This is about the positive things regarding Michael Jackson and his music that have brought joy to my life.

I remember when Thriller came out in 1982 and a fellow classmate at Carver Jr. High brought the record to school to brag. Sure I liked Michael but most of our pop music experience ( referring to my sister Angela and myself) came from the radio and y102 , Magic95 along with a few other soul stations. We just got our first family record player and tuner less than a year ago and Lets Groove by Earth, Wind and Fire was the first 45 single I bought.

Well after he started renting out the record to classmates who couldnt afford to buy a copy I invested in his $1 per week rate. Angela and I would sing The Girls is Mine over and over exchaging lyrics between Michael and Paul McCartney.

We finally got our own copy just in time to play Billie Jean hundreds of times  and then when Beat It and cutting edge video rocked the Mtv scene in 1983 it was on. We were both fanatics and collected every magazine or picture that our allowances could afford. I will never forget the time we spent together searching and collecting pins, pictures and other memoribilia.

The memories is what I thank him for. This is also why I can never judge him because as far as brother and sister relationships go his music brought us closer
My favorite single performance is from motown 25 live where  he performs
Billie Jean. It is a Youtube link. Can you say GOOSEBUMPS!!!

This will be a 3 part series  that provides some thoughts about earning income in today's business climate.

Part 1 will introduce a couple small business success stories
Part 2 will discuss some of the most recession proof services to offer
Part 3 will focus on specific ideas relevant to you and Montgomery.

I hear about how bad the economy is from those I  come into contact with on a daily basis.
It seems to be the convenient catch all excuse for everything wrong with their current job or job search.

They are often perplexed when I dont affirm their woeful viewpoints because in fact I am excited about the opportunities  that are being created for the big thinking entrepreneurs.

Sure I read and hear all the numbers about unemployment and how people are not hiring.
My point is that those numbers dont necessarily mean anything to an individual who recognizes a great chance to create his own income. Here are two examples of small businesses that  have profited from the recession

Sung Kim   is a shoe repair specialist whose business is benefiting because less people are buying new shoes.

How about this Oprah feature about one of a number of companies profiting from the poor housing market.

Okay so maybe fixing footwear or disposing of others belongings doesnt appeal to you, there are other things to do....

Part 2 of Recession provides opportunity  will share some great recession proof services in general.

Hi My name is Eddie Spangler and I grew up in Montgomery. My family moved her from Guam about the time 2nd grade started. I went to Daisy Lawrence, Southlawn Elementary, Carver Jr High, Jefferson Davis HS and then graduated AUM after 1 awesome year in Tuscaloosa. Since then I have traveled, met tons of great and no so great people and lived what most people consider an exciting life. Denver, Las Vegas and most notably Atlanta have been places to hang my hat so far. Remember looks can be deceiving..About 3 years ago I moved back to Montgomery. Recently I have been given the opportunity to do something my heart has longed for but has yet to accomplish. Achieving Full Self Expression GreatNewsMontgomery.com is the first step of the journey. It is dedicated to promoting the Great people and things that are all over Montgomery. Its amazing to see how much this joint has grown in all these years. I know in my heart that there is alot of love and super things happening around town and if just a few more ethical business and social leaders stand up and take charge , a seemingly disinterested public will join in and support them. The people have to believe in their leader to make this scenario work. I make a public commitment to my loved ones and the community to follow when necessary and lead when I must. Eddie Spangler
